TV Equipment, Circa 1982

It’s hard to believe, but this is what a television and a video recorder looked like 30 years ago. Both machines were big, boxy, and covered with simulated wood. Yes, years ago, electronics resembled station wagons.

This tasty item is the Sony Betamax, which recorded TV shows (up to 3 hours long) on a magnetic tape. Ultimately, the Betamax was murdered in the marketplace by the VHS cassette and the name “Betamax” now refers to products that lost consumer’s interest. You know, just like that other Sony product, the Walkman.
